Waste is a big issue for us here at Dama Dama Free Range. Whilst we actively work to help keep deer numbers down in the Otway's we also need to ensure what we kill is utilised. We only hunt what we need for orders and our processed items such as sausages and burgers and our delicious smallgoods. We understand this can be a different mind set for consumers who are used to buying from supermarkets. Yes these stores have a seemingly endless supply of meat, but they also have a huge waste problem!
On average customers can expect delivery up to twelve days after the order is placed. The deer are harvested to order and require at least a week for hang time and processing before being butchered. Delivery time also depends on what products you order and quantity. Delivery is weekly on a Friday (may change due to public holidays). Dama Dama will always contact you to let you know when you can expect your order. Due to processing, orders placed before midday Sunday can usually expect to receive their order the following Friday. Orders made after midday Sunday will not be delivered until the second Friday.
Delivery is free to most suburbs within the Colac Otway Shire, which is where Dama Dama is based. For delivery outside of these areas Dama Dama uses a reputable food industry courier to ensure your products are delivered safely and promptly. The cost for delivery is $30 per order. Dama Dama Free Range will waive the cost of delivery if your order is greater than $250. (See also PICKUP option from our regular Farmers Market stalls).
Dama Dama Free Range uses logistical cold chain specialist Professional Carriers to deliver your meat orders. It is preferred that you are able to accept your delivery in person, but Professional Carriers will leave your order if no one home.. If you plan on leaving an esky out please include special instructions for courier to move meat from box to esky. Keep this in mind when the weather warms up. You can also nominate another person to accept your delivery. Please contact Anthony or Beth if you have any questions about delivery.
